Where Did mlem Come From?

Origins

In 2023, we said goodbye to our beloved Siamese Flametail cat, Gizmo—a long, fluffy gremlin with a purr that could shake the walls and a personality bigger than most dogs.

When it came time to find an urn worthy of Gizmo’s chaotic, cuddly legacy, we were... disappointed. Everything out there felt the same—generic ceramic or wooden boxes that screamed “bulk order” and “drop-shipped sadness.”

There was nothing that matched the joy, the zoomies, or the gremlin energy that made Gizmo, well, Gizmo. And let’s be honest, the prices were wild for something that clearly came off an assembly line halfway across the world.

So we looked at each other and said:

We can do better. Gizmo deserves better.

And so, mlem was born.

Remembering The

Mlemories

We had our mission—but not yet a product.

We wanted to create something we’d be proud to make, and even prouder to have in our home—a true celebration of Gizmo’s spirit (and his very dramatic bleps).

After a ton of brainstorming, we landed on four things that mattered most:

We knew we needed a variety of colorful choices—something that could match each pet’s personality and your home’s vibe. Whether it’s Boop Snoot Black or Toe Beans Pink, we’ve got you covered.

Gizmo didn’t just live—he zoomied, he blepped, he conquered. Our urns had to be about celebrating the happy mlemories, not just mourning the loss. So Mlemory urns show your happiest memories, either as a photograph or by adding a Frameo digital media player you can send photos and video clips to using your smartphone.

And every urn should be highly customizable—built to be as special as the family member it’s honoring.

We made sure our urns had enough room for keepsakes too—like Gizmo’s favorite toys (a catnip-stuffed tea bag and a battle-worn owl that definitely lost a few fights).

At mlem, it’s all about creating a space for love, laughter, and a lifetime of tail wags and purrs.
